The Garden

From Saint Léonard Road, you might first think our place is not much to look at, but if you focus on a not so trivial detail such as the white clematis lighting up the outer wall in the spring time as she climbs up the imposing hundred-year-old apple tree, you’ll discover a true haven of peace. Beyond the moss green gate, a red brick alley will show you the way you up to the house as you’ll walk along the front yard overlooking the street where grow not only the apple tree -whose fruits we use to make our scrumptious Calvados jelly- but also a mosaic of aromatic herbs, rambling roses, lovely perennials, quince and cord-like apple trees, the whole surrounded by box tree patches, without forgetting a splendid collection of dahlias blooming in July. A beautifully large fuchsia shrub and a gigantic gunnera manicata are also part of that formal garden.

At the top of the alley, a massive wisteria-covered pergola will lead you to the walled thus cosy garden facing south, a ravishing landscaped garden where ancient roses and perennial bushes peacefully intermingle… A couple of majestic palm trees originally sown by the landlady will guide you to an alley scattered with box trees leading up to a dense bamboo undergrowth sheltering a quaint and little log cabin. Neatly trimmed yew hedges divide the garden into lush green and distinct areas providing it with shade, privacy but also valuable habitat for small garden birds whose warbling you’ll find so enchanting. After a stroll up and down the picturesque streets of Honfleur, the garden will offer you a complete change of scenery and a pleasant moment of peace away from inquisitive eyes.

Garden furniture and deckchairs are available so that you can fully enjoy our garden.
In 2007 Gîtes de France labeled Rosebud as “B&B&Garden”.
